Britney Spears Faces Backlash For Body-Shaming Christina Aguilera’s Dancers

Britney Spears told her Controversial Instagram post About how to “look slim” with a lengthy description shared on her page.

In case you missed it, Britney provoked a huge backlash by reposting a quote on Tuesday arguing that the “only” way to “look slim” is to “hang out with fat people.”

And in the caption next to the quote, Britney also mentions the names of Christina Aguilera’s dancers, arguing that she would “look very small” on stage if they had supported her.

“I wish I could have chosen a nanny for my children… my dancers… I mean, if there were Christina Aguilera’s dancers, I would have looked very small,” she wrote.

“I mean, why don’t you talk about it? I think I would have been a little more confident if I could have known where I live, where I eat, who I call, who I’m dating and who’s on stage!!!” she asked

“It is difficult sometimes. Seeing how deprived of my femininity was at that time, everyone sat still and said nothing!!! Anyway… I’m going to talk about things that people have never talked about before,” she added.

Shortly after the post was posted, Britney’s message received numerous critical comments calling for a “disgusting” message.

One wrote: “You can tell the truth without trying to offend anyone. “So disappointing.” someone else added

“what’s this? fat phobia? Why do you want to take up less space after you’ve been through it? Why do you want to crush someone or make someone feel small? Use the platform responsibly. Do better,” wrote one user and another. “This meme is disgusting! How dare you post this for millions of young girls to read?”

Going on to call the whole thing “toxic,” some people said they had unfollowed Britney as a result of the post, while others said it could be “harmful” for people experiencing eating disorders.

“This is too toxic. This should pass… yes.” One person read it. “What is the only way to give a woman confidence in how thin she is? Sad,” said another.

Meanwhile, on Twitter, fans were equally critical of Britney’s post, labeling it “very fat phobia”.

Well, Britney, whose name skyrocketed on Twitter after all the backlash, actually addressed the topic herself, claiming that she wasn’t “trying to criticize anyone.”

“Never even mentioned Christina, look at my post!!! I was inspired by her show and she is a beautiful woman of power…thank you @xtina Thank you for inspiring me!!!” She said.

Britney went on to describe her post as a “projection” of her instability, citing that she lived for several years under her custody, which many fans had speculated.

Much of Britney’s life was tightly controlled by her father and a group of lawyers under a legal agreement that took effect from 2008 to November 2021.

“Honestly, I am not trying to criticize anyone. What I posted is a projection of the anxiety I always experience as a result of how my parents and the media have treated me,” she wrote.

“I think my family knew I was insecure and that people were deliberately trying to instigate this anxiety by not letting me have a choice among those on stage with me,” she said.

“I understand, you’ve been through too much. Sometimes we curse in the wrong way. Knowing this and acknowledging it, all that has happened is so kind,” wrote one person. “Love transparency,” another added.

However, others continued to complain about the singer, urging her to not only delete the post but also apologize to Christina’s dancers.

“Hehehe. No, I’m sorry. The quote is a fat shame, and so is Christina’s opinion of the dancer. I love you to death, but don’t try to break up, just delete it and apologize,” wrote one user.

“I might apologize to the backup dancers… #Justice‘ said another.
