First of all… ugh. Almost always paired with leggings. And it’s almost always this exact color.
Sometimes people have gray. If you want to be stylish, you can accessorize it with leg warmers like in 1982, not 2012.
You might even get dazzled Uggs (or fakes) if you look really cool.
Unfortunately, dazzling was the general trend overall.
or glitter. Especially the skull shape. The skull was large, but I don’t know why.
In 2012, the peace symbol was also really big.
But we can’t talk about Fall 2012 without talking about sweaters. A few years later Mr. Like the class white cable knit that Chris Evans will take.
Or its sister product, the chunky oversized cardigan.
Or its cousin, the Long Waterfall Cardigan.
Or that niece, the odd batwing cardigan.
We also loved our suede boots.
You also needed a classic Christian girl fall hat like a pompom hat…
Or one of these bad guys.
Bonus points for matching hats, wallets and boots.
Don’t forget the fake Burberry scarf.
Or a convenient infinity scarf.
But what about the ultimate accessory??? Anything with a mustache theme.
or earrings. Most of them belong to Claire.
When there were no actual accessories, I made one by drawing a sharpie on my finger during the 3rd period.
Another accessory we loved for fall 2012? feather. Don’t ask why. Feather prints, silver feather necklaces, real feather earrings…
Another fall 2012 star? Especially the turquoise plaid button-up.
Or red — often tied around the waist.
Beanie, skull skirt, check shirt together??? This outfit checks out all 2012 boxes.
I can’t believe we haven’t talked about skinny jeans yet. When the temperature dropped below 75 degrees Celsius, it was time for jeans that were tighter than spandex.
Or *literally* jeans made out of leggings — AKA, the dreaded jeggings.
Skinny jeans and jeggings choked us. We especially liked the gray.
We also liked the pattern.
Tightness doesn’t just apply to jeans, jeggings and leggings. We loved the plaid pants that literally made it difficult to move around.
And faux leather pants that creak as we walk.
It was also the era of literally wearing thin leggings as trousers.
We usually wore awkwardly long shirts that covered the crotch, so that was fine.
Although some had an asymmetric hem.
We loved to accessorize with the statement colored reel blazer.
Or the classic green military jacket.
Bonus points for embroidered army patches.
Or if it was literally in your stomach.
We also liked the military jacket. I blame Taylor Swift for her marching band outfits on her. Red tourism.
But perhaps you can’t go wrong with this particular jean jacket from Old Navy.
But when the weather starts to get colder, you can’t die without the North Face fleece.
If you want to dress up for your first day of school, you can wear a statement necklace that covers your chest halfway.
We loved the nice lil’ sheer chiffon shirt, especially if you have one of these cute bows.
Dyeing colored stripes in your hair can make you stand out back to school.
Or, pulled Kylie and dyed the ends. Especially turquoise.
Or you can come to school with the hottest new fashion, brass ombre hair.
Or the classic blunt bangs hairstyle made famous by Demi Lovato and Carly Rae Jepsen.
2012 was the year of combat boots.
In fact, 2012 was a year in which everything soared.
We even wore spiked and studded collars.
and fringe. I think it would be more suitable for spring/summer, but I ended up finishing it with a darker color for fall.
A checkered skirt was a must-have wardrobe item.
This was especially true of skater skirts made of cheap faux leather.
We also made good use of summer shorts with tights.
You can even pull out some weird textured stockings to look at.
2012 was all about mixing really weird textures and patterns.
And finally, we can’t talk about the faux leather moto jacket that represents 2012. Especially – are you really surprised? — Stud.
There was also a cute color version.
In particular, we loved this Free People “vegan” leather jacket with a detachable hood. I mean, who doesn’t like a detachable hood???
